How Can An Infected Surgical Wound Be Treated?

Hi, I had a 2nd degree episiotomy and a 2nd degree tear.. my stiches got infected and i recently finished the antibiotic and feeling better. Its been two weeks since the delivery now and I would like to use polysporin ointment to avoid another infection from recurring.. Is that okay? Thanks in advance Doctor.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

This is ok, it cant harm but also if infection is healed then there is no reason to worry about recurrence if there are no other risk factors present. If wound is closed now then you can apply ointments to ease your mind but there is no need to be concerned.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
