How Can An Ear Infection Causing A Hearing Loss Be Treated?
having issues with hearing. First occured approx 5 yrs ago when i caught a cold from my child. Hearing improved as well as other symptoms after antibiotic. However this has become a reaccuring theme whenever i catch the faintest of colds. Last fall I received antibiotics for ear infection(8th ear infection in past 5 years) and did not regain hearing entirely. I was told to take antihistmene but have been taking for 4 weeks, can barely hear, have weakness and fatigue in most of body, mucussy cough, occasional fever that is mild. Am at end of rope so to speak have been told they i may have walking pnuemonia but no tests were performed what can I do. I need to be able to hear...please help

Recurrent ear infection is associeted with hearing loss and is not so uncommon. Infection could have damaged your ear drum or ear bones or inner ear. all of which leads to hearing loss. General advise:
1. Observe strict oral, food and respiratory hygiene
2. Take steam inhalation, if possible with some propritory medicines meant for inhalation during cold and cough
3. Stay away from outside foods, have fresh and nutritious diet.
4. Don't blow or sniff forcibly to clear the nose &/or throat.
Next Step:
1. Physical examination by an ENT specialist for clinical diagnosis.
2. Audiometric tests for Hearing
3. Imaging of sinuses and chest for possible infective or othe etiology for recurrent infection
4. If needed tests for allergy.
