Yes, my gastroenterologist has examined me and told me that I have an abdominal hernia. What do I do next? What are the signs and symptoms? My abdomen has enlarged especially at the epigastric area. In fact, most of my abdomen is upper quadrant, looks like I am pregnant. I m 62 and do not have a uterus.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Abdominal hernia usually occurs due to decrease in tone of abdominal muscles. Surgery will be required to correct the defect in anterior abdominal wall. In order to prevent abdominal hernia in future, increasing the tone of abdominal muscles will be required.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
