How Can Allergic Rashes On The Body Be Treated?

I was taking the antibiotic Macrobid for a UTI and it turned out I never had one. A week after I broke out with hives. I was also using a different laundry soap so I really don t know what caused it. Ive been taking Benadryl and Pepcid for relief. Should I go see a doctor?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Macrobid is a brand name for the drug Nitrofurantoin that is a commonly used effective antibiotic for UTI.
It can cause allergic reaction while rashes can also be due to contact dermatitis caused due to the new soap..
So first of all stop using the soap and continue taking Benadryl and also do cool compresses over the hives..
Apply Caladryl lotion for soothing of skin..
You should also consult an Emergency room and get evaluated so that they can advise you other common antibiotics for UTI like Norfloxacin as it can also relieve your infection..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
