Sir,The would be bride is a carrier of thalasemia beta minor. The bridegroom is perfectly healthy. The Hb A2 value was found to be 6 well above the normal range of 3.5.However all other parameters were found to be normal. The marriage was in its final stages, when the blood test was performed.Hence, I want to know if the child from this marriage would be affected or not; If the child is a carrier, then what will be its effects?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, thalassemia is genetic disease and it may come in offspring in either condition of major or minor but it is more likely to happens in major thalassemia and it can be well detected in routine blood test but anemia is the main symptoms hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
