How Can A Swelling At The Site Of Injection Be Treated?
I recently received a shot in the arm muscle at the shoulder yesterday PNEUMOVAX 23 25MCG/0.5ML INJ. MY MUSCLE GOT REAL SORE AND SWELED UP AND MOVED DOWN MY ARM TO MY ELBO. I put ice packs on it last night. today the pain has subsided but the swelling is still there. I feel ok, no headache maybe a little fever. Muscle still sore but not as bad. Should I be concerned? Thanks Gary Lambo YYYY@YYYY
Well, it looks like inflamed muscle tissue leading to swelling and discomfort. However, the symptoms do not seem to be severe and you need not worry as gradually the swelling will subside.
You should continue doing ice packs and along with it keep your arm moving with light exercise. Also, you can apply Calamine lotion to soothe the skin.
You can take an anti-inflammatory painkiller if there is pain along with muscle relaxant. In case if the symptoms worsen better consult an Emergency room and get checked.
For now, keep a watch over the symptoms and do cool compresses.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
