Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a very bad skin tear on the back of lower leg. The flap of skin was blue. It happened in the evening so I didn t get to urgent care until about 18 hours later. A nurse practitioner put stitches in it, sewing the blue skin up. It has been a week. But now it seems infected. Why was the skin blue and should it have been removed? Was the skin dead and is that causing an infection?
aseptic measure has not been taken stitching may not be successful and accepted margins should have been cut and now stitched so the result would have been better.now infection has to be controlled and if requered a broad spectrum antibiotic can be used. keep it under watch if requered the flap could be completely removed and proper dressing be done daily apply providone iodine.
