Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can A Painful Lump And Pressure In The Arm Be Treated?
I have a friend who is a plumber also while he was working in a confined area ...trying to unscrew a pipe at an awkward angel..and trying to disconnect those two pipes one of his arm was drawn backward quickly and his elbow struck another pipe directly in back of him. Now he has a squishy knot on the afflicted elbow about the size of a ping pong ball. It is not blue in colour. There is some pain with pressure What are the most likely differentials.
Hi sir/ma'am, I appreciate your care and concern for your friend. From the details, I suspect a fracture most likely at the elbow. The following are the other possibilities :
1) Myosotis ossification(due to rigorous rubbing at trauma site, new bore formation abruptly occurs)
2) Tendon rupture only with thorough examination and an X-ray of affected elbow, we can arrive at a specific diagnosis. So, please ask your friend to consult an ortho expert for further management. If it’s a fracture bone, undue delay may cause some unwanted complications that may compromise movement at the elbow joint. Hope I’m clear. Any other clarifications, please let me know. Its my pleasure to guide you. Thank you.
Take care
