I bashed my toe into a door 2 nights ago and it seems that there was an ingrown toenail starting. Anyways I am still in pain from it and I ve done foot soaks but still can t see the corner of the toenail or lift the toenail due to pain. Just what I can do to fix it. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I'll advise you to see a general surgeon who will remove the ingrown nail surgically. No need to worry. This is a minor operation and requires the use of local anesthesia. However, the sooner you schedule a visit with the surgeon, the better; to prevent the infection from spreading further. In the meantime, you could commence with antibiotics (Amoxicillin or Cloxacillin) to limit the spread of the infection and an analgesic (Diclofenac or Ibuprofen) for the pains. Please, bear in mind that the ingrown nail has to be removed surgically.

Hope that clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Chobufo Ditah, General & Family Physician
