Hi,

One technique to remove or shrunk the size of mass or a tumor is to block the blood supply to that tumor/mass. This is called embolization. In this technique, only the vessel which feeds the mass is blocked, hence rest of the kidney will get a normal supply of blood, but supply to the mass will be cut off. It's mostly safe though it has its hazards like any procedure. Your doctor can talk to you more about this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
