How Can A Hematoma On The Knee Be Treated?

I was in a car accident 6 days ago and I slammed my knee into the dashboard. I have no fractures and no ligament tears, but I DO have a hematoma around my knee (not in the joint). The swelling has gone down a little bit and therefore the bruising has spread a bit (the bruising is also getting better), but sometimes I can feel the blood moving. Is that a cause for worry?

Hello,

No, you do not have to worry because this hematoma takes 1 to 2 weeks to subside when once formed in that close spaces.

So you need to understand the etiology of your pains and to bear with it. If the pain is more, then you can take some painkiller for help but not always.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
