How Can A Haematoma Resulted From An Injury Be Treated?

three weeks ago an injury to my arm resulted in a gash a very large hematoma. Being out of state, the ER put a see through plastic dressing over the hematoma and then an ace bandage. What do I do if the plastic comes off and the gash is still not closed.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is nothing but a collection of blood underneath the skin. In most cases it will resolve by itself even without any treatment. If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
