How Can A Dog Scratch Wound Be Treated?

I got nipped by a dog today through my jeans. the dog was with its owner and at the time I didnt think there was much damage done. When I got home and could look better I found a bruise and a light scrape - no bleeding. My jeans had a small tear in them that I hadn t seen. I didn t get the name of the owner or know who he is. I ve washed and done antibiotics etc. The dogs seemed healthy and they responded to the owner - who showed no remorse - when he called them back.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

-If the bite or scratch is bleeding, apply pressure to it with a clean bandage or towel to stop the bleeding.
-Wash the wound with soap and water under pressure from a faucet for at least 5 minutes.
-Dry the wound and cover it with a sterile dressing.
