How Can A Dental Abscess Be Treated?

Hi the dentist said I had a abcess so gave me antibiotics so they could take my tooth out this was 4 months ago but I still have a little lump in the back of my gum feels abit like hard skin when I touch it do you know what this could be as it was there before I had my tooth out I m abit worried

Hi,

It could be infection still present in the form of granulation tissue at granuloma.

Another possibility is that any portion of tooth root is still left inside the socket unextracted and leading as a source of infection causing a lump.

So my suggestion is to get done an X-ray to rule out what is the exact cause of it.

For now, you can take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and do alternate warm and cool compresses over it.

Get checked by a Dentist and if there is any retained root piece get it removed.
