Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Primary management of confusion of brain consists of rest, pain pill. You have done it properly. Now you need to allow him rest (waking him up periodically to a certain that he is conscious in coma) symptoms such as vomiting, severe head ache, difficulty in speech & vision, balancing or coordination or consciousness warn about immediate advise of doctor. I would suggest a medical check up by his surgeon (who performed VP stunt (after a week of rest &absence of serious symptoms). To confirm intactness of shunt.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
