How Can A Chalazion On The Lower Lid Be Removed?

Hello, I ve had a Chalazion since 2011 and it is onmy lower lid the inner corner it s not obvious from the outside but I can feel a very hard lump with my finger, doesn t effect my sight but I feel like I have a slightly swollen bloodvessel in upper lid above it,never painful but area swells a bit of I get run down.I assume surgery is the only way forward which I am quite scared of having done in case of scarring and of course pain.Do you suspect it is a chalazion, compresses etc don t work on it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A chalazion is a slow-growing, inflammatory lump in the tear gland of the eyelid. It is benign, painless bump or nodule inside the upper or lower eyelid.

If the chalazion does not resolve within one month of a conservative approach, then it would require surgery by means of incision and drainage, which would be beneficial.

Kindly consult Ophthalmologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
