How Can A Cat Scratch Be Treated?

I was bitten by a stray cat in Indonesia, and started Rabipur treatment the same day. I had two injections on day 0, and one injection on day 7. On day 8, I got bitten again by the same animal. It was a relatively deep bite in my lower thigh. The cat does not show any symptoms of rabies. She gave birth in my room (my window was open, and she had kittens inside my closet). The kittens are now 2.5 days old, and seem normal (nursing and growing) The bite was rinsed under running water for some minutes, cleaned with green soap, drenched in 70% ethanol, and Cetylpyridinium chloride was applied to the wound. I have not gotten extra shots of Rabipur. My next vaccination is on the 31st of August. I got bitten two days ago. How should I proceed? The cat has been observed for 10 consecutive days since I first got bitten. She does not seem different. I think the second bite was a warning for getting to close to the kittens. The doctors in the hospital in Indonesia understand little english, and I feel like I am not able to explain myself properly. Any help and thoughts about the situation is much appreciated

Hello! Firstly, you are going to be very much alright! Now let's see how. Since you have started your vaccination of Rabipure you can be sure to have got immunity against the rabies virus. Complete your dosage of the vaccination. There's no need to restart the schedule. But as per your description it seems that the bite is deep and it is considered category 3 bite. This sometime necessitates Rabies Immunoglobulin to be injected in and around the bite site and a site far away from it. suppose you had a bite on the hand you need Rabies immunoglobulin on the bite would and another one near your calf muscles. This would completely protect you from the virus.

Secondly, since you are living with the cat and the cat has shown typical behaviour of protection to its kittens there is nothing to suggest that the cat is harbouring rabies virus. The chances are very low. But prophylactically complete the course of the vaccination, you'll have a total peace of mind.!

Get well soon!
