How Can A Bruised Toe Be Treated?

My son jammed his toe into the couch yesterday - middle toe. It now is crooked and bruised on the side of the toe. He can move it and it is not swollen but it won t stay straight and it hurts to walk. The top of the foot at the injured toe is red, the side of the toe is black and blue

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sorry to hear of the bad incidence. What you said is something we should worry a bit that is we must see an X-ray to rule out any damage to the bone. So I would strongly recommend seeing an orthopedic doctor who would examine the toe and will get an X-ray done. Once the bones and the tendons are not damaged, the bruising won't be a big issue and would settle in a few days. However, we must get an X-ray done first to rule out any minor fracture.
