Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last night i fell asleep with a little rubber band (that s used for braiding hair) that was wrapped around the base of my pinky finger. I slept for 12 hours and when I woke up i immediately took the rubberband off because it felt uncomfortable. The rubberband had left a white ring where it had been and the rest of my pinky was a light reddish pink color. A couple hours later I noticed a blister with fluid in it had started developing on the underside of my pinky where the rubber band was. It is now 9 hours since the blister started developing & it is continuing to blister around the whole base of my pinky. Should I have it looked at by a doctor?
Hi, Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I had gone through your question I can understand your concern. Because of the rubber band there is restricted blood flow to the area so there are more chances of infection and gangrene to the tissue fireside to the band. Yes you need to immediately consult the doctor for further evaluation about any dead tissue infection or other problems. As the tissue had been in the condition of low or no blood flow, when blood flow suddenly goes to the tissue the high conc. Of oxygen leads to damage of tissue more and more. It can also spread to other parts of body too though in rare cases. Hope you will be healthy soon. Regards Dr Muzaffar
