How Can UTI Along With Chills And Body Ache Be Treated?

My mom is 88 yo and in basically good health. She went to her primary doc and has a UTI just took her 3rd dose of Macrobid but feels awful has 100.3 temp, has chills and aches all over Can I treat symptoms until morning (unless she gets worse) or take her to the ER now?

Thank you for the question.

Macrobid is an appropriate treatment for her UTI. If she has only taken 3 doses she is still in her first day of treatment i assume. I would wait before taking her to the ER unless she gets worse. Continue the antibiotics, make sure she drinks plenty of fluids and takes acitominophen (eg tylenol) 2 tabs every 6 hours/as needed for the fever.

Kind Regards
