I was diagnosed with asthma / copd 7 months ago. I have been given various prescriptions for prednisone over the last 6 months. Short bursts of 40 mg for 5 days and also taper schedule of 12 days starting with 40 mg. This past week after taking 40 mg for 1 day, I dropped it to 20 for 2 days then 15 for 1 day and then the side effects kicked in like never before. Jitters, and sleeplessness and overall feeling of unwell. I am off it 3 days now and I have never had side effects from this drug like this. My inhalers were changed to Alvesco 160 2 puffs twice daily, Zenhale 2 puffs twice daily and Spiriva. When will these symptoms go and do the new meds have anything to with the side effects? My BS elevated to 7.9 on Friday but has dropped to normal. What can I do to minimize the side effects?
