How Can Capgras Syndrome Be Treated?

Capgras syndrome. Son hospitalized 6 months. Now home for the last 3 months with therapy and oversight with Psychiatrist. 20 of clozaril 2000 of depocote daily . Doing well but big weight gain. I was wondering if this was stressed induced and would it be a wise decision to wean off the clozaril . 20 of clozaril is a low dosage but maybe he don t need it at all . There is just so little info out there.

Hello,

The question-whether your son should be weaned off of a prescription medicine-is best answered by the M.D. who prescribed that medication.

The psychiatrist who prescribed the medicines received a lot of education and supervised training prior to being licensed to make decisions about which medicines are best for his/her patients with fewest side effects.

And, very importantly, he/she knows your son. Whenever you have any concern about your son's health, whether it be about medications he's taking or about something else, ALWAYS contact his physician before making a change.

Your pharmacist can provide you with information about the medicines your son is taking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Arnold Zedd, Pediatrician
