Ankle ligament and soft tissue injuries may need complete rest and a cast for recovery which may take 3-6 weeks time. You may need to see a orthopaedic surgeon or your doctor to assess the ankle sprain and ligament tears and what can be done presently to help in the recovery.Exercising on a sore ankle may rupture the partially healed ligaments and damage the soft tissue.
