Hello,
VLDL stands for very low density lipoprotein. Lipoproteins are substances made of cholesterol, triglycerides, and proteins.

There are three major types of lipoproteins. VLDL contains the highest amount of triglycerides. VLDL is considered a type of bad cholesterol.High VLDL  and triglycerides increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
There is no simple, direct way of measuring VLDL. Most labs estimate your VLDL based on your triglyceride level. It is approximately one fifth of your triglycerides level, although this is less accurate if your triglyceride level is above 400 mg/dL.

High levels of triglycerides are found in...
Obese people
In diabetics and hypothyroid patients
If you consume more of sugar and fats
If you consume more alcohol.

Treatment involves lifestyle changes like...
Reduction of calorie intake
Regular exercises and shedding your weight
Try to be in your required range of BMI
Moderation of alcohol intake
Reducing your sugar and fats intake.

Sometimes medicines are required if the levels of triglycerides are very high or lifestyle changes don't bring the desired results.
Thanks

General & Family Physician Dr. Michelle Gibson James's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Triglycerides respond particularly to carbohydrates ingested. For this reasons persons with very high triglycerides levels are asked to reduce their carbohydrate intake in an effort to reduce the triglyceride level.

Carbohydrates would be found in a number of different foods such as rice, pasta, bread, biscuits, potatoes, pastry, breakfast cereals, fruit juices and sodas.
If you can reduce your consumption of these then there should be reduction in your triglycerides.

I hope this helps
