High SGOT, SGPT Levels. What Kind Of Diet Would Help In Normalizing The Levels?

My SGOT is 88 and SGPT is 78. I don t drink, neither smoke . I love deep fried foods, but take it not more than twice a week. around 150 grams at a time. Besides that I take Red meat (mutton) twice a month but not more than 150 grams at a time. I eat egg not more than 2 in a week. Please suggest the food and medicine to reduce my SGOT and SGPT. I admit that I also eat less vegetables, but I like to have potatoes, cabage, beans, peas, cauliflower , carrot.

Dear saurav,
your SGOT SGPT are only mildly elevated. they are not worrisome.
but to recommend any diet modication , I need to ahve the complete set of liver function tests. i hope your report has all the values.
if they do not, please get complete LFT done. lot of conditions elevate these enzymes. so all tests are needed in combination. also have a basic blood chemistry and haemogram and lipid profile.
also tell me the sonography report. you can use the site's uploader.

did you have any infection, jaundice, fever in the past?
are you on any long term medication?

till then , please eat high carbohydrate diet, no oily/ spicy diet.
avoid alcohols altogether since enzymes are elevating.

I hope to have helped you. and would advise more once you post added info.
take care and Good Luck !

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Mayank Bhargava's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Derangement of SGOT/ SGPT suggest liver involvement but as such no medicine is available which can improve liver function and may correct SGOT/ SGPT level.
First, you should know the cause of derangement of these parameters.
Do you have undergone ultrasound imaging/ serum amylase/ alkaline phosphatase level?
Are you obese or normal weight person?
As such, no dietary restrictions are required. You should take normal diet but try to keep low fat diet.
Fatty liver (a very common entity) may also cause derangement of SGOT/ SGPT.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
