Hi My 18 Month Daughter Had An Abscess On Her

Hi my 18 month daughter had an abscess on her bottom. The doctor told us to do warm compresses for 15-20 minutes every 2-3 hrs. She also said to massage it to ensure it drains completely. And she put her on an antibiotic to take for 10 days. Well, after about 2 days it bursted and drained out, but then soon after it closed up. You can still feel some hardness where the abscess was and it also looks like this big bruise on her bottom. I don't think she is in pain anymore because When I push on it she doesn't cry. I'm still doing the warm compresses and it seems to help, but it still scares me. Is this normal or should I take her to the ER? I was told if it didn't drain completely then they were gonna have to cut it and drain it out instead of letting it drain on its own. I'm wondering if it closed up too soon and didn't drain like it was suppose?
