Hello Dr., My child had loose motions 3 days back and is having continuous fever since past 3 days. He also had vomiting. Shown to a pediatric but the fever dosen't seem to improve. Doctor said child has stomach infection and mild dehydration. Son is 3 and half years old and is weight is 10.2 kgs. Fever is persistent on 101-102 F. It decreases on giving paracetamol - P-250 - 4ml for every 6 hours. but recurs again and again. doctor has prescribed anti-biotic - Ziffy 100mg - 3ml twice a day and also Vi-bact - 5 ml, twice a day. For vomiting doctor has given Ondem.
But fever is not reducing even after 72 hours of treatment now. But child is also not taking much fluids and is very resistant and adamant in taking food. With lot of persuasion, we are giving ORS, glucose, juice and water. He takes half an apple, few spoons of dal-rice and few small pieces of roti in a day. Child is pale and dull. Urine output is there, straw color, but not very much.
Kindly advise what we should do to reduce the fever immediately and increase the intake of food and fluids.
