hello dear
thanks for your query at HCM
i undertand your concern
your son is diagnosed with lyme disease.
this is natural course of the lyme disease
Early localized : 3-30 days Erythema, variable constitutional symptoms (headache, fever, myalgia, arthralgia, fatigue)
Early disseminated     3-12 wk     erythemia (single or multiple), worse constitutional symptoms, cranial neuritis, meningitis, carditis, ocular disease
Late >2 mo Arthritis.
in lyme disease white blood cells can be elevated with range from 25,000 to 1 lakh /ml of predominently by polymorphonuclear cells.
if syill in doubt for diagnosis of lyme disease you can go for ELISA screening test and also confirmatory test WESTERN BLOT TEST .
these might help in diagnosis and treatment.
where as multiple sclerosis can present with multiple symptoms ranging from pain , fatigue, to epilepsy and hemiplegia.
for diagnosis MS mri scan is helpful
hope i answered your query
