Head Injury Due To Fall. Back Pain, Headache, No Bump. Doctor Needed?

Thank you. I have a question about if I should go to see a doctor due to a recent fall on the cement. The other day I was running my 90 lb. German Shepherd and a man and his son tried to get out of the way of our path and went on the side of a bush. I don't think my dog saw them and the little boy stepped out onto the sidewalk and my dog got spooked and darted sideways fast in front of me and flipped me around and I hit my behind and head hard on the cement. I was very dazed and thought I was ready to pass out but never did. I was more worried about my lower back and behind but the an said that I hit my head pretty hard and he wanted to walk me home. I was pretty shook up and was 2 blocks from home so I just walked myself. Since then I have been in major pain in my behind that feels deep in the muscle which will probably be pretty bruised-thank goodness I didn't hit my tailbone :) I have had a small headache but no big bump. My son said that the spot is just red. I do feel like the front of my forehead is bruised but there is nothing there and I fell on the back of my head?? Do you think I should see a doctor or just get a lot of rest?

Hello,
Headache is common after a head injury.
If you don't develop any problem like confusion, drowsiness blurring of vision, bleeding from ears or nose etc, then there is nothing to worry.
Since you are able to walk properly, any major injury on your back is also ruled out.
Treatment involves local icing in initial 48 hours, adequate rest and taking anti inflammatories like ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day for 4 to 5 days.
You should be all right in next few days.
Thanks
