Head Injury. Have Extreme Pain, Lump On Head, Headaches. What Can Be Done?

I hit the back of my head about 12 hours ago, falling from a skateboard on concrete. Initially I felt fine just extreme pain from lump on my head. About 15 minutes later I felt extremely sleepy and had a headache Classmates had trouble waking me. My headache has still not gone and It has gotten worse over last couple of hours. Will it go away. ( I can't sleep now, and OTC painkillers don't work!)

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

You seem to have suffered a severe impact over the head due to the fall.

Since you had drowsiness and headache is still going on, it is better to for you to undergo a CT scan of the brain. It is possible that it may not show anything serious, but it is always safe to exclude a bleed or fracture.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
