Having Lichen Planus. Using Aveeno Baby Lotion. Continue?

Hello Dr. Grief, I have had Lichen Planus For Four Years. I t was secondary from Impetigo that I cought from my Husband, nothing worked to even clear it up, I crathed it a lot and made it bleed , I have it on my arms and mostly on my lower legs a little on my upper legs and a few on my upper arms, the effected areas seem to be flattening out and peeling a slight scale and when that happens it itches so bad, I used Sarna Sensitive Lotion for a long time and it seemed to keep it under control but, I started getting a very slow heart beat when I would go to sleep at night and I found out that The 1% Hydrochloride in The Sarna was causing this and so I had to stop using it, I am now using Aveeno Baby every day lotion and it seems to be helping a little but, when I take it of it really starts to itch. My question is should I keep using the Aveeno or is it making the LP to soft from the lotion? Thank you so much for your answer. Laurie

Hi ,
Thanks for writing in.
The condition you are suffering from is lichen planus.
You can take tab zyrtec for itching.
Apply aloe vera lotion twice daily.
Oral and topical steroids will help a lot.
Continue the aveeno lotion at bed time.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.
