Having Left Groin Testicular Pain. Prescribed Medicines. Pain Still Persists. Further Treatment?
Hello Dr, I ve had left groin testicular pain for about a week that was excruciating. There was no previous activity that I believe caused it. I did lift a bicycle up a ladder to hang it, but my doctor said I had epididymitis. I was give 500 mg of Cipro 2x day for a week and am done with it. I do notice less pain in the area, but it is not completely gone. What do you feel my next step should be for treatment? Thanks! Chris
Hi, You could use some kind of scrotal support which should relieve the pain and discomfort apart from use of mild analgesics and anti-inflammatory agents. Also, unlike other infections, infection of epididymes actually takes fairly long to clear, and you might need to take a drug like Levaquin, which belongs to the same class as Ciprofloxacin, for a period of 8-10 weeks before the infection actually becomes totally quiescent. Also important would be to identify why you have developed such an infection. You might ave a stricture of urethra or a bladder outlet obstruction. If you have difficulty in voiding urine, please ensure that it is also resolved to ensure that you do not develop recurrences.
