Hi, i have had upper abdominal swellingnow for a long time an dit is not going away.I underwent tests referred by my gp and results all came back negative.what would you suggest.doctor says it is ibs but i feel there is more to this problem than ibs,i feel my shape has changed.what you suggest.in the mornings i feel okay the bloating isnt bad its during the day and moreso at night.
Irritable bowel syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion, this means it is diagnosed after history, examination and investigations have ruled out other conditions.
If your doctor has assessed for other potential causes, then it is possible that your symptoms may be related to ibs. If you are unsure then you may want to consider visiting a gastroenterologist for an opinion.
