Have Sore Throat. Doctor Took Blood And Culture Of Throat. Not Strep Throat. Prescribed Ibuprofen. What Is It?

Hi, I have a sore throat and I went to the emergency room and the doctor says I do not have strep throat, but the did take my blood and a culture of my throat. I wonder what is wrong. They gave me a prescription for ibuprophen and that is all. My throat is still hurting. What could be the problem is it is not strep. There is white stuff on my tonsils.

Thanks for using HCM
They have taken blood, throat sample for testing, to know which organism is causing infection. Accordingly we can give you appropriate antibiotic treatment if its necessasary.
Ibuprofen is given to reduce pain and inflammation in throat.
Do warm salt water gargling 3 to 4 times a day.
Avoid cold food stuffs for few days.
Get well soon

Hi
sore throat has many reasons,,including infections caused by bacteria like sreptococcus or virus or simply due to change of food or drinking water..

You did n't mention in the query about the blood and culture reports..
Ibuprofen is just pain killer..

You have mentioned that there is white stuff on tonsils..You didn't mention about your age..it might be tonsillitis also..

Better go for ENT specialist for more suggestions.
Thank you
