Have Severe Pain On Right Side. Scan And Test Normal. No Muscular Pain. What To Do?

For the past six weeks I have had severe pain in my right side. I have had blood tests
urinalysis; even a ct scan and nothing appears to be out of order. I saw a therapist
but he did some tests and felt there was no muscular problem. It feels like it iis
internal. Where do I go from here? I am obese at 5 feet six inches and 240 lbs.
I am 74 years old. I still have a right ovary.

Hello,

With only the above description, we are faced with a wide range of possible causes that can not be identified on CT scan or other tests. I would have loved to know if it is right-sided chest pain or abdominal pain (upper or lower quadrant). So if you can write back to indicate the precise location of the pain, that will help do the differentiation.
You might be suffering from one of the below conditions:
- Sub-acute appendicitis: which can result to intense abdominal pain in the right iliac fossa(RIF) or lower right quadrant of the abdomen
- Diverticulitis: inflammation of the diverticulus (part of the intestine)
- Inflammatory bowel diseases
- Cholecystitis or cholelithiasis
- pancreatitis
- hepatitis
- other digestive diseases
From lungs/chest:

- costochondritis
- lung diseases such as cancer, infection etc
- pleurisy
- pneumothorax

From kidney:
- UTI
- Kidney/ureteral/bladder stones

From reproductive organs
- PID
- Torsion of ovarian cyst

So you can see that by virtue of just your above presentation, I am able to deduce a wide number of illnesses. If you wish for precise and concise answers, do please feel free to write back and I will be glad to elaborate and give you further details.
I suggest you see an internist or gyno-obstetrician who can actually do a proper evaluation and provide you with a treatment.

hope this helps
