Have Pectus Excavatum. One Side Of Chest Soft, Hard Heart. Normal?
My son has Pectus Excavatum , sunk funnel or something called that. My question is one right side of his chest is soft and the left side above his heart is hard, is that normal, it was not like that before and his doctor didn t do any x-rays but my son has complained about pain in his chest. Should I be very concerned about this?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
People with chest wall abnormalities are more likely to have "COSTOCHONDRITIS" which in short means inflammation of rib joints and which are major cause of chest pain. Over the counter medication for pain relief will do the job. Nothing seem to be worrisome, still if he feel having trouble with breathing please do contact emergency services ASAP.
Thanks, Hope it helps. Dr.JAY PATEL.
