Have Pain Under Ribs. Have Swelling. Was Shot, Was Not Removed. In Abdominal Wall. Cavity In Lung. Have Loud Bowel Sounds. Prognosis?

I am having an uncomfortable, well pain in the left side, it feels lke the area is full and up under my ribs, and there is swelling in my back area on the left side, it actually feels like it goes through to my back, If and when I move a certain way it feels lke my lowers ribs are rolling over each other or rub each other. I was shot with a 38 several yrs ago and the bullet was not removed and it was either to have been in my abdominal wall or in the plueral cavity of my left lung, was never told exactly sure where it was but it is in that area. I have such loud bowel sounds coming from that area that anyone that is in the room with me can hear it at times, my stools are very loose, and I have a lot of cramping in this area. I also have like a bubbling sound and sensation in that area just about all the time. This has been going on for months and it is getting worse.... It really is to the point that I am have serious pain...I know that I need to see a Dr but I have no medical insurance, but I have applied just waiting to be accepted. Your quick reponse will be greatly appreciated........ VERY SCARED AND WORRIED....I am not jaundice, not much of an appetite, I actually am very hungry at times but dread eating beause it sometimes makes the pain and discomfort worse. Please help me... I am desperate....Sally Maynard

Thanks for writing to HCM

You need proper clinical examination and investigations.
Firstly you need chest X-ray and X-ray of abdomen. It can detect any bullet left inside. CT Scan can be done if needed.
If bullet is not there then other causes should be probed.
If you don't need surgical intervention after evaluation then your hospital bill will not be too much and you can bear this. You need consultancy from surgeon. Treatment depends upon findings.
