Have Pain Near Rib Cage When Taking Deep Breath. Smoking Marijuana. Brown Mucus Discharge, Diarrhea

i feel sharp pain on the left side of my rib cage when i try to take deep breaths. this has happened 3 times today and lasts about 10 minutes then kind of goes away. I have been smoking marijuana every day for 2 or more years and this has never happened untill last night. i also have been spitting up brown mucus every morning for the past week, along with diarrhea . i am 17 years old and am skinny but eat a lot of red meat.

Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you mentioned that you are an addict of marijuana from last 2-3 years.
Now having sharp pain on left rib cage side with brown MUCUS discharge.
This brown discharge and pain in rib cage may be due to .
1 Pleural effusion , diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest . As all indication are involvement of rib with infection.
2 Bronchiectsis , diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest .
3 Consolidation on the left side lung is another possible reason. Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion as physical examination is very important in this type of case.
