Have Pain In Wrist. Had Stretched The Ligament While Lifting A Weight. What To Do?

Hello, my name is Mr Michael Gardner , I am builder by trade, several months ago last november to be exact I was working on a scaffolding and I had to use a heavy rope to pull up cement on a wheel at the top , it was raining and rope was hard to pull up thats where I think I strained my wrist , I think I have stretched a ligament in my right wrist its now nearly May and it still gives me pain when lifting , I am asking your advise to see if you think I started using my wrist before it's healed, I have caused permanent damage. I never released I had injured myself really because I am 51 and wear and tear , but very worried about my wrist because its my living I just grin and bear it , I did see a doctor recently he said it repetitive strain injury but I no I did it that day pulling up the rope . could any doctor who reads this give me advise please . regards

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you mentioned in your query that when you were pulling there was strain.
Now ,please note that your age 51 years and this age very prone to develop CHIP fracture of distal end of radius bone ( it is not necessary but possibility is there).
So please consult one more doctor / orthopaedician and be sure that there was ( is ) no fracture.
2nd possibility is that there was injury to thenar eminence muscles ( muscles just above(close) to thumb of right side.
3 Remote chance may be diminishes in bone density and coincidence of injury.
Consultation with a orthpaedician will solves your problem.
Get in blood examination for any chronic infection due to injury.
Get well soon.
