General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Longstanding hypertensives are more prone to develop diabetes.
Prescription of anti diabetics depends upon various factors and as such it would be highly improper on my part to advise you the medications online.
It would be better for you if you consult a diabetologist or an internal medicine specialist, get yourself examined and investigated thoroughly and then get a proper prescription.
You would need a constant and regular monitoring of your blood sugar levels along with blood pressure levels and your lipid levels.
Make sure to keep your blood sugar and blood pressure meticulously controlled to avoid various future micro as well as Macrovascular complications.
Reduce your weight.
Do regular exercises.
Observe proper dietary restrictions.
Keep your BP ZBELOW 120/80 and LDL cholesterol below 80 and triglycerides below 150 .
Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Sunil Kumar Srivastava's  Response
For diabetes of late onset, there are several oral medicines .You must ask your physician to start medication so that you can follow his advice in future also. Like hypertension, diabetes needs to be treated life-long and proper follow up is necessary with a Doc.
In meantime try to control your diet with avoidance of sugar as far as possible, and less of red meat and calories, do exercises to burn sugar.
