Have Dizziness. Have Fainted. No Medication Till Now. What Can Be The Cause For Fainting?

Hello, the other day I randomly fainted. I hate eaten about an hour before, I was laying down than got up to get more food, as I was making food I felt really weak, I went to the bathroom and started to get really dizzy than next thing I know I am on the ground. I than started sweating uncontrollably and felt very hot. I felt a little better after laying down and drinking a glass of water than I went to bed. Should this be a concern? I have never fainted before. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
thanks for using health care magic.

It would have been better to have some of your medical
history in order to give a better response. Elements of
your history that would have been useful include, your
age, sex, diabetic or not, hypertensive or not, presence
of chronic disease or not etc.

However, it could be possible you had a post-prandial
hypoglycemia which is a sudden drop in sugar level fol-
lowing a meal due to a sudden exaggerated secretion
of insulin.

It could also be due to an orthostatic hypotension which
is usually a consequence of metabolic disease affective
nerves such as diabetes.

However, the best approach to take will be to see a doctor
for an initial evaluation for exams such as electrolytes and
others depending on the physical evaluation.

Hope this helps you. If you have more query, i will be ready to
help.
Best regards
Dr Achuo
