Have Deep Cut On Foot With 6 Stitches. Left Side Is Numb. Swollen And Discolored. Remedy?
Hi I got a very deep cut on the top of my foot almost ankle area slightly off to the right I think I messed up my nerves and a big blood vessel or something because I got 6 stitches and its been 4 days and the left side of my foot is slightly numb. I can still move my toes and everything. I keep it up most of the time but when I put it down, it starts to swell and discolored, like a little purple. What's going on what should I do? Thanks.
hi i am dr usman you are right in presuming that the the numbness in the toesis because mild injury to the small nerves that supply the skin and it willl take time for them to completely regenerate . they will not interefere with movements so you just have to be patient. regarding foot swelling one possible explanation is that there is lot of inflammation after the injury and when ever there is inflammation there is swelling and it tends to aggravate whenever you will place your foot down because of gravity effect as theer is inflammatory fluid around the wound. so try to keep yout foot elevated even when lying down such as keeping a pillow below. hope the answer helped
