Have Blue Veins On Forehead, Neck Pain, Arm Weakness. Have Stent, On Hypertension Medicine

My 78 year old mother suddenly developed several dark blue veins on her forehead and an area that looks like a broken blood vessle over her eyebrow. This happened after doing yard work. She also complained of neck pain and arm weakness. She has a stint in her heart and is on high blood pressure medication. She refused to seek medical help and I am worried.

hi,

From your statement I can come to a conclusion that what your mother is having condition called spider veins. Occurs due to weakening of the circulatory system. the cause for this are many - few of them are age, heredity, lifestyle, environmental factors and sun damage. All have an effect and can cause stress on the vascular system. Certain causes may not be applicable for your mother's age, but common for women. The hard work may be the cause for this as well for the neck pain and arm weakness. Ask her to avoid hard work. High BP and cardiac stent are usually not the cause for spider veins.

If left without treatment it may spread around. If at all treatment is needed - sclerotherapy by vascular surgeon. otherwise nothing to worry.

Best wishes
