Have DDD, Neuropathy, Diabetes. Should I Switch To Opana From Norco?

My NP at the pain clinic talked to me about switching the Norco 10/325 to Opana. I chose to stay on the Norco. I take it 5 times daily. I have been on this for 3 years and I scared to change. The pain is worde now and I have DDD and Neuropathy and I am Diabetic. She sd the opana is for people that will have pain for a long time. What do you think about the drug. I have never heard of it.

Hi

Opana is oxymorphone and it belongs to the same group of medicines as hydrocodone (in Norco). Opana can be prescribed in the extended release form where you will need just one to two doses a day for pain relief. Thus it is more comfortable as compared to taking 4 - 5 tablets of Norco or Opana for the purpose.

The side-effect profile for both tablets is little different. There is addiction potential for both medicines.
