Had Tibial Plateau Fracture Due To A Fall. Swelling In The Leg Due To Hemarthrosis. Need Surgery?

Sir my lift had a free fall from 6th floor and the impact caused a minor tibial plateau fracture a small crack at the end of plateau on my rt knee as was diagnosed by the ct scan report. I have following questions for clarification:-
1. Though I have no pain but there is a slight amount of swelling and restriction in the movement of my leg because of hemartothosis around the knee. Do I need to undergo a surgery or a normal cast will do the needful.
2. What is the complete recovery time that I may be looking at.
3. I am a serving officer and a pilot in the navy. Will this injury effect in my daily activities in future.
4. I have not yet undergone a MRI SCAN yet. What additional info does an MRI give. Though the initial x-ray showed nothing but it was diagnosed in the CT scan.

Thanking you and anticipating a quick reply.

HI
1. WELL THE NEED OF SURGERY DEPENDS UOPN IF YOUR FRACTURED FRAGMENTS ARE DISPLACED OR UNDISPLACED. IT APPEARS FROM YOUR REPORT THAT THAT THEY ARE UN DISPLACED AND IN MY OPINION YOU MAY NOT NEED THE SURGERY.
2. COMPLETELT RECOVERY TIME CAN VARY FROM PERSON TOPERSON BUT GENERALLY 6-8 WEEKS ARE REQUIRED TO RESTORE FUNCTIONALITY.
3. YOU CAN GET A COMPLETE RECOVERY IN TIME HOPEFULLY
4. CT IS MUCH SUPERIOR TO MRI IN DETECTION OF BONES FRACTURES. I DONT THINK SO U NEED AN MRI AT PRESENT AS IT WILL ONLT TELL ABOUT SOFT TISSUE INJURIES AROUND THE KNEE. YOU MAY REQUIRE MRI TO RULE OUT KNEE LIGAMENTS OR MENISCAL INJURIES LATER ON.

THANKS
