Had Iv Inserted Into Back Of Hand, Accidentally Bumped The Place, Vein Swollen. Dangerous?

I had an iv inserted into the back of my hand a week ago during an ambulance ride to the emergency room. While there they administed medicaton through the iv. I only had the iv in for less than 24 hours. Now a week later I accidentally bumped the place where the iv had been and now that vien is swollen so badly that I can hardly close my fist and. is slightly blue..My hand is hurting. My question is that is this something that can be dangerous and should I seek medical attention. I presently had ice on it. I am worried it will cause a dangerous blood clot. What do I do and what do I need to know?

welcome to HCM.
It occurs due to hardening of that vein after iv medications and is called thrombophlebitis. It usually occurs due to some medicines and iv canulla.
Don't worry,it will healed after some time.
Continue ice application,do regular exercise like open and close your fist repeatedly, wrist movement.
You can apply heperin skin cream on it.
Take nsaid to subside pain, swelling and inflammation.
Visit your treating doctor.
