Had Issues With Knee, Hips. Had Surgery On Knee For Plika. Hips Got Weak. Now When Cross Knees, Knee Falls Asleep.
Hi, my names maddy. I've had previous issues with my knee and hips. I had surgey on my knee for a plika. And ten after that my hips got very week. I've been in and out of pt for like 2 years. Now everytime I cross, or bend my knees, my whole leg falls asleep. Them once I straighten it out, it immeaditly goes away. What do you think is wrong? I thought maybe a pinched nerve?
The possible reason for your knee falling asleep during certain movements involving the knee joint indicates compression of the nerve around the knee area. If it is momentary in nature and resolves spontaneously afterwards, then it is not a matter of concern. The only remedy to this problem is to avoid those positions that causes your symptoms.
If your leg is falling asleep even with other activities, then the nerve compression could be in the Lumbar spine for which an MRI scan is indicated to make a proper diagnosis.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and management .
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
