Had Fall, Heard Crack In Foot, Hurts, Swollen, Changing Color. Fractured?

I was playing tag with a couple of friends and was running. My friend jumped over a stair railing while I was trying to go under. He landed on top of me and the top half of my foot bent underneath my foot and I thought I heard a crack. It hurts all the time whether im moving or not, and its swelling and is beginning to change color a little bit. Is it broken?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The symptoms that you have described are likely to be due to a fracture in the area. This needs an X-ray for confirmation of diagnosis. Till then avoid weight bearing on the foot.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Vishwanath. R. Hulsogi's  Response
Hello, it is always better to rule out a fracture by taking an x-ray, although it could only be soft tissue injury. If it is a fracture and you continue to walk swelling and pain would increase and you are only inviting trouble. So go ahead and take a x-ray and a orthoapaedician opinion. Thanku, get well soon.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
From the description, it looks like that you have sustained a fracture of the metatarsal bones in the foot.
Temporarily this can be managed by
* Keeping the limb in elevation
* Ice compression
* Avoid bearing weight on the foot
* take some analgesic antiinflammatory medicines
I suggest to have an xray of the foot to rule out any injury and approach an orthopedic surgeon for further management. Hope this helps
