Had Blood In Urine. On Antibiotic. Will Do Ultrasound. Chances Of UTI?
Hi My son had blood in his urine with urgency and burning, I was assuming it was a UTI. They gave him an antibiotic. Now 1 week later they want to do an ultrasound. He also had blood taken twice. Is it very common to do an ultrasound in this situation? Because he is 18 I have not had contact with the Dr. Thank you.
Hi, It seems that along with YTI he might be having other problem like stones in the kidney giving rise to blood in urine. Ultra sound is very common and very important to come to conclusion. This investigation might be advised to rule out stones or any other pathology. It does not give any radiation so it is very safe at any age. Ok and take care.
Hi!welcome to HCM!
Blood in urine needs to be thoroughly investigated.A baseline routine urine microscopy will reveal if pus cells ,crystals, protein, hemoglobin,RBCs are present or not.
most important is to rule out stones and any neoplasm in kidney, bladder or urinary tract apart from UTI.A visit to doctor is a must and
please get the ultrasound of kidney ureter and bladder region as early as possible!hope this clears your query !
