Had An X-ray Of Knee, Sprained, Swollen. Done MRI. What Is The Defect?
I recently had an x-ray on my knee..sprained swollen etc., The doc last night stated that it looked OK and treat it for a week and come back for further testing if it still hurts / swollen. I recieved a call this afternoon stating that the radioligist found a defect and I should schedule an MRI...What exactly is a defect?
I am so sorry to hear about this fall and the troubling thoughts of a defect.
A defect simply means that something abnormal has been identified. because the structures of the knee joint(ligaments, meniscus, tendons, etc) are best evaluated with an MRI, that is the reason why.
In the mean time, avoid using the limb much as any further movements may make a smaller defect(lesion) even bigger and more concerning. Also, continue the pain medications to get enough relief.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you so much for using our services. Feel free to ask for more information if need be. I wish you good health. Dr. Ditah, MD.
